Book three in the Corporate Heat series
Hunting a murderer is hot work, in more ways than one.
Lindsey Califaro, the second-in-command at Elite Marketing, is suspicious when her boss, Craig Wainwright, is killed in a car accident. She’s had a funny feeling about things around the agency for a while and now her spidey senses are going haywire. Something is wrong and she’s determined to find out what.
John Martino, the highly sought-after forensic accountant, is sent by Arroyo to dig into Elite’s books and see if there is an answer there. He expects problems, but what he doesn’t expect is to find a super-smart, hot female who pushes all his buttons and sends his sex drive into overload.
Investigating Elite’s finances and Craig’s private life, the two uncover a sordid trail of sex trafficking and drugs so extensive it shocks them. As they draw closer to the real head of the operation, the heat between them rises and their feelings for each other explode.
As they work to blow open the criminal enterprise, John must do everything he can to protect Lindsey from a master criminal. But will his best be enough
“Masquerade is a well-layered story!”
Masquerade is the third in Desiree Holt’s Corporate Heat series, and focuses on Lindsey Califaro, an executive at Elite Marketing, a high-end firm in Florida. When her boss is killed under what seem to be questionable circumstances, she finds she can’t ignore her gut feelings about something being off. Turns out her gut is right, and all is not as it seems at Elite.
Elite’s parent company Arroyo brings in a forensic accountant, John Martino, to help uncover what the perfectly aligned spreadsheets might be hiding. Lindsey is both delighted and dismayed, as John is not only a top notch investigator, he is also the several-night stand that she’s had years to try to forget. And turns out John might not want to be forgotten after all.
Ms Holt combines a suspenseful story about the beautiful facades hiding criminal activities that run the gamut and the finely detailed detective work that goes into unraveling these intricate plans with the scorching relationship building between Lindsey and John.
I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Although this is the third in the series, I was able to dive in effortlessly without having already read the previous two, although I definitely plan to go back and do that, knowing what an excellent read Masquerade was!
